At its most basic level, I believe good art is an effective combination of concept, vision and mastery of medium. It is also uncompromisingly honest, ambitious, original, challenging, and a feast for the senses. It doesn't necessarily have to have all of these qualities, but at the very least it has to keep you coming back for more.
I enjoy all areas of art and design and find myself constantly dabbling in different mediums. In my work, I believe developing the basic materials for beginning a piece is important for success. Later, bringing those materials together into a form—establishing a context, developing and shaping movement, working to create something that feels cohesive and complete...that’s incredibly powerful for me. The hope is that it makes a statement, causes a reaction, connects, changes a perspective or simply tells a story.
